Nasi Goreng (Indonesian Fried Rice)

How To Cook

For the Chicken:

    • 150 gms chicken breast

    • 1 tbsp sweet soy sauce

For the Rice:

    • 2 garlic cloves

    • 1 tsp red chili- finely chopped

    • 1 diced onion

    • 3 cups cooked white rice

    • 2 tbsp sweet soy sauce

    • 2 tsp shrimp paste (optional)

For Garnishing:

    • 4 fried eggs

    • 1 sliced green onion

    • Tomatoes and cucumbers cut into chunks

    • Fried shallots

    • Lime wedges

    • Add chili and garlic. Stir it well for about 10 seconds

    • Add the onions and cook it for over a minute

    • Add the chicken and wait until it turns white. Add 1 tbsp of sweet soy sauce and cook for 1 minute (until the mixture is a bit caramelized)

    • Add rice, 2 tbsp of sweet soy sauce and shrimp paste ( if necessary). Stir the mixture constantly for 2 minutes until the sauce reduces down and the rice starts to caramelize

    • Turn off the flame and allow it to cool

    • Serve hot and garnished with green onions, red chili and fried shallots
    • If you’re looking at enjoying this nasi goreng fried rice the traditional way, serve it with a fried egg (sunny side up), tomato wedges, and cucumber slices on the side
